The Jean Jeener NMR Center is equipped with two state-of-the-art spectrometers, enabling a wide range of studies on biological macromolecules. Applications range from the determination of protein structures at atomic resolution, to the analysis of binding affinities of macromolecular complexes. The lab is part of the Structural Biology Brussels laboratory at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and of the VIB Department for Molecular and Cellular Interactions. The center was officially opened on the 7th of May 2010. (See the scientific and official program for this event.) |

The Jean Jeener NMR center at the Faculty of Science and Bioengineering Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel invites applications for a (post-)doctoral project in
Provisionally starting on October 1, 2010, for the duration of 3 years.
The beginning scientist is expected to have a good theoretical background in biochemistry and protein structure, and a profound interest in learning NMR spectroscopy for protein and glycan structural determinations and molecular interaction studies. It involves:
The project is part of a bilateral agreement for translational medicinal chemistry research between the FWO - Flanders and Quebec, Montréal, Canada, where the synthesis of antimicrobials will take place. Linked experiments are microscopy on biofilms and in vivo imaging, aimed at optimization of those. He/she will work in the internationally renowned Bio-NMR research team of Prof. Nico van Nuland and in collaboration with Dr. Julie Bouckaert.
Candidates should have applied or have the intention to apply for (post-)doctoral grants for which they are eligible.
Your CV and a letter explaining why you like to apply have to be sent in to each of the three contact persons below. Further information can also be obtained from either:
